How to Export Chase Transactions as a CSV File

Chase makes it straightforward to download transaction history from your checking, savings, or credit card account as a CSV or Excel file. The export takes about two minutes and works from the desktop website — the mobile app does not support CSV export.

📱The CSV download option is only available on the Chase desktop website (chase.com). The Chase mobile app does not have a download/export button.

How to export your Chase statement

1
Sign in at chase.com

Log in to your Chase account using a desktop or laptop browser. The CSV export is not available in the mobile app.

2
Select the account you want to export

From the account overview, click on the specific checking, savings, or credit card account. This opens the account activity view with your transaction list.

3
Find the Download icon

Near the top-right of your transaction list, look for a downward arrow icon (⬇) or a "Download" link. It appears just to the right of the transaction search bar. If you don't see it, scroll up — it stays near the top of the activity section.

4
Choose your date range

A panel opens with date range options. For a monthly review, select "Last 30 days" from the dropdown. For a specific statement period, choose "Custom date range" and enter your start and end dates.

5
Select CSV as the file format

Under "File type," choose CSV. Chase also offers Excel, Quicken (.QFX), and QuickBooks (.QBO) formats — CSV or Excel both work with MindsBudget.

6
Click Download

Chase downloads a file named something like Chase1234_Activity_20260501.CSV to your downloads folder. This file contains every transaction in the date range you selected.

7
Upload to MindsBudget

Open MindsBudget and upload the file. Your spending breakdown, recurring charges, and financial health score appear in under 60 seconds.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the download icon — where is it?

Make sure you're on the desktop website (not the mobile app). After clicking into a specific account, scroll to the top of the transaction list. The download icon (⬇) appears on the right side of the activity header, near the search and filter controls. If you're on a narrow browser window, try widening it.

Can I download more than 90 days of Chase transactions?

Chase's download tool typically allows up to 7 years of history via the custom date range. For a monthly review, you only need the last 30 days. If you want to compare several months, download each month separately and upload them one at a time to MindsBudget.

Chase is asking me to re-authenticate before downloading — is that normal?

Yes. Chase sometimes triggers step-up authentication (a code sent to your phone or email) before allowing a file download. This is a security feature on their end. Complete the verification and the download will proceed.

What you get after uploading

🔁

📈

A score from 0–100 based on your spending rate, discipline, stability, and cash runway.

🔒
Private by design

The original file is not stored. No bank credentials. No ongoing account connection.

Frequently asked questions

How do I download Chase transactions as a CSV?

Sign in at chase.com, click on the account you want, find the download icon (⬇) near the top of the transaction list, select your date range and CSV format, then click Download.

Can I download Chase transactions from the Chase app?

No. The CSV export is only available on the Chase desktop website (chase.com). The Chase mobile app does not include a download or export option.

What file format does Chase use for CSV exports?

Chase exports a standard comma-separated values (.CSV) file with columns for Date, Description, Amount, and Type. Both CSV and Excel formats exported from Chase are accepted by MindsBudget.

What date range should I export for a monthly review?

For a standard monthly review, export the last 30 days — or the first to last day of the most recent full calendar month. MindsBudget calculates your financial health score and spending breakdown from whatever date range is in the file.

Does MindsBudget accept Excel files as well as CSV?

Yes. MindsBudget accepts both CSV (.csv) and Excel (.xlsx, .xls) files. Either format exported from your bank works.

Is it safe to upload a bank statement file?

Your exported bank statement contains transaction history — dates, amounts, and merchant names — but no account numbers or login credentials. MindsBudget processes the file immediately and does not store the original file. Only the structured transaction data is retained, and you can delete it at any time.

Does MindsBudget connect to my bank?

No. MindsBudget does not connect to your bank and does not ask for your bank credentials. You export the file yourself and upload it — no ongoing connection, no third-party access to your account.

What columns does MindsBudget need in the CSV?

MindsBudget automatically detects the column format used by major banks. Standard exports from Chase, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Capital One, and Discover all work without any manual editing.
